Student Nurse Externship Program
The Student Nurse Externship Program at Warren Hospital is a great way for nurses with at least one semester of clinical experience to hone their nursing skills and gain clinical experience. Be scheduled three 12-hour shifts a week (7 am—7 pm).
In addition to observing different clinical areas like the Perioperative Unit, Critical Care, Med/Surg and Outpatient treatments, Student Nurse Externs attend four bi-weekly seminars designed to strengthen their professional skills. Topics include critical thinking, team building, prioritizing, time management, stress relief, organization and communication skills.
Requirements
- Applicants must have completed at least one semester of clinical experience.
- A current copy of your transcripts.
- A reference from a clinical instructor focusing on your nursing skills and your understanding of customer service.
Timeline
The 2012 Student Nurse Externship Program will take place June 11 through August 4. Information is sent to area nursing schools in February and applications are received through March 30th. Accepted candidates are notified by April 20th.
