Perhaps you are having problems with speech or language because of a stroke or head injury. Or you may have a child with a speech or language disorder resulting from developmental delays. Our certified speech pathologists provide evaluation and treatment for a number of conditions.

Adult services

Evaluation and treatment for speech and language problems associated with:

• Stroke or head injury.
• Laryngectomy (removal of the voice box).
• Cleft palate, cerebral palsy or other conditions that may affect the tongue and mouth.
• Poor alignment of teeth or dentures.
• Other conditions including progressive neurological disease, stuttering, atypical swallowing and articulation and/or language impairment.

Services for children
Early intervention by our certified therapists can prevent a child's speech and language disorders from developing into more serious disabilities. We offer treatment for:

• Articulation disorders.
• Language disorders/delays.
• Stuttering.
• Voice disorders.
• Cleft palate speech.
• Hearing impaired speech.
• Developmental delays.
• Cerebral palsy symptoms.

Swallowing services

Swallowing is often taken for granted, but thousands of people suffer from difficulties with this basic human function. Swallowing disorders can be caused by:

• stroke or brain injury.
• head and neck cancers.
• developmental abnormalities.
• surgical excisions.
• progressive degenerative diseases (Parkinsons, Alzheimers).
• the aging process.

Our experienced speech pathologists and radiologists evaluate swallowing problems using video fluoroscopic studies. Therapists then develop specialized treatment programs. Swallowing services are provided in the hospital.
