Bethlehem, PA (8/15/2014) -- St. Luke’s Gastroenterology Specialists have welcomed two new physicians to the practice to diagnose and treat digestive health needs.

Gastroenterologists Kimberly Jegel Chaput, DO, and Chatargy S. Kaza, MD, FACP, have joined St. Luke’s medical staff.

Dr. Kaza specializes in endoscopic procedures that include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, gastrostomy feeding tube placements and other procedures. Dr. Kaza is board-certified in both Gestroenterology and Hepatology. Prior to his work in the Lehigh Valley, he worked with a private practice in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Kaza received his medical degree from Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam, India, and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. In the past year he was awarded the highly respected Fellowship status in the American College of Physicians (FACP). Dr. Kaza will provide services in Bethlehem Township and Phillipsburg, NJ.

Gastroenterologist Kimberly Jegel Chaput, DO, joined the practice after completing her fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Geisinger Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Fellow. She earned her medical degree at Des Moines University and completed her residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she held the Chief Resident position. Dr. Chaput’s special interests include colorectal screening and cancer awareness, women’s gastrointestinal health and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Kaza and Dr. Chaput join Ayaz Matin, MD, and Berhanu Geme, MD, who are both board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Matin’s education includes the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Additionally, Dr. Matin completed an advanced Endoscopy fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Geme is a graduate of Jimma University School of Medicine in Jimma, Ethiopia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Leno Hill Hospital/New York University School of Medicine in New York City and his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (Elmhurst Program) in Elmhurst, NY. Both Dr. Geme and Dr. Matin have been published in multiple gastroenterology journals. Dr. Matin is a national presenter at Gastroenterology conferences and meetings.
