Join St. Luke’s and PVSD in building a healthier community

Tail on the Trail

Coaldale, PA (8/7/14) -- St. Luke’s University Health Network and Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L) have partnered to bring the community a family fun initiative - Get Your Tail on the Trail - encouraging people of all ages and all activity levels to get outdoors and get active by walking, running or biking.

In support the Get Your Tail on the Trail program to improve the health and wellness of our community, St. Luke's Miners Campus and Panther Valley School District leaders are inviting you to "Get Your Tail on the Trail"…at the Panther Valley Track!

Beginning at 5:30 pm on Monday, August 11 and continuing on Mondays through Monday, September 15, St. Luke's providers will lead the way in walking the walk! Each week look for other community members to join along such as St. Luke's Miners Campus President Bill Moyer and local Mayors!

This is an opportunity to walk with your community while gaining health benefits every step of the way. Don't limit yourself to Monday’s...the Panther Valley Track is open to the public daily, from dawn to dusk! There is no cost to participate. The Panther Valley track is located on Route 209 in Lansford, less than one and a half miles from St. Luke’s Miners Campus.

Remember to stay hydrated as you get out and get active. Take in 8-16 ounces of water 20-25 minutes before your activity, and always sip water during your workout.

St. Luke's 2nd Annual Care for Kids Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run

Join us for Monday’s on the track as we prepare for St. Luke's 2nd Annual Care for Kids Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run, a Get Your Tail on the Trail approved event, to be held at 10 am on September 20, 2014, beginning at St. Luke's Miners Campus. Register by September 7, 2014 and receive a commemorative t-shirt. All proceeds from the 2014 Care for Kids Run/Walk will benefit St. Luke's Miners Community Health, which provides free services to the surrounding communities' children and adults. For more information about St. Luke's 2nd Annual Care for Kids Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run, please contact Michelle Bowman at 570-773-3500 or bowmanmi@slhn.org.

Take the Get Your Tail on the Trail 165 Mile Challenge

Members of our community can participate in a 165 mile challenge through November 2, 2014.

We encourage you to walk, run or bike 165 miles on the D&L Trail but the goal is to get healthy along the way — however you decide to achieve it. Whether it’s walking on the Panther Valley School District Track or bike rides at the beach, you can achieve this challenge goal.

Log your miles via the Trail Tracker on the Get Your Tail on the Trail website and receive great prizes as you achieve your milestone goals. Looking for more of a challenge? Double (330) or Triple (495) your miles and earn extra prizes! Help us in building a healthier community... one mile at a time.
