Allentown, PA (1/22/2012) - St. Luke’s Hospital - Allentown Campus is pleased to announce that Jennifer L. Mann has been elected to serve on the St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus Board of Governors.
Frank Ford, President of St. Luke’s Hospital - Allentown Campus said, “We are so pleased that Jenn has chosen to join our outstanding Board. She has been a tremendous friend to St. Luke’s and is so passionate and committed to the Allentown community.”
Jennifer L. Mann retired from the PA State Legislature last month after fourteen years of service. During her tenure, Mann was elected to serve as Caucus Secretary, making her the third woman to serve in a House Democratic Leadership position since the Pennsylvania legislature was formed in 1682.
Jennifer has helped in the redefining and remaking of Allentown through her efforts to bring Minor League Baseball to the Valley, her understanding and support of many area non-profits, a focus on services provided to students in the Allentown School District and her support of the expansion of services at St. Luke’s Allentown Campus, said Ford.
“St. Luke’s has always been my hospital,” said Mann. “I am delighted to have been invited to serve on this dynamic Board of Governors. Frank Ford has a great vision for St. Luke’s Hospital - Allentown Campus and with the support of the St. Luke’s University Health Network, has been able to expand services and provide care for so many. Of particular interest to me is the hospital’s commitment to expanding medical, dental and vision services to under- and uninsured students in the Allentown School District.”
This past November, Representative Mann served as the Honorary Star for the hospital’s annual fundraiser, Dinner by Starlight. Proceeds from the 2012 Dinner by Starlight event supported the purchase of an additional HealthStar van which visits schools in the Allentown School District and provides direct access to health services for students who would otherwise not receive care.
“Jenn has been a strong partner for St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus. She has met with her constituents on our behalf, taken a keen interest in our needs and provided us with wise counsel and unwavering support,” said Robert Wax, Senior Vice-President and General Counsel of St. Luke’s University Health Network.
Located at 17th and Hamilton Streets in Allentown, St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus has invested more than $150,000,000 in the expansion of the hospital and services provided. The campus provides innovative and high-tech care to more than 170,000 patients annually.
