St. Luke's Health Center in McAdoo Expands Hours

Third facility of its kind continues to provide easy access to quality health care; Project funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Health

McAdoo, PA (09/16/2011)St. Luke's Health Center – McAdoo, located at 14 North Kennedy Drive (Route 309), began offering extended hours. The third facility of its kind in the area, initially opened in April 2010 with limited office hours. The facility will now be open to patients Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 am – 4:30 pm and on Tuesdays from 10:30 am – 7 pm. Laboratory services are available Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 – 11:30 am.

"The expanded hours will make health care services even more accessible for local residents,” said Carl Seitz, Director, St. Luke's Health Centers. “Patients will receive quality care in their community at times more convenient for them. And they'll avoid paying the premium for visiting an emergency room for routine services during off hours.”

Ease of Access to a Broad Range of
Health Care Services

The other two Health Centers are located in Nesquehoning and Hometown. Current patients and residents in the local communities have the ease of accessing quality health care at any of the three locations.

The Health Centers provide health care coverage to a primary area of local patients with Physicians' Assistants and Nurse Practitioners providing this primary care. A physician provides additional care required of the patients. The St. Luke's Health Centers were opened with two main goals:

  • To improve access to primary health care in rural, underserved communities
  • Promote a model of health care delivery using physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

The facility's staff provides a broad range of health care services, for individuals as young as six months of age to older adults. The full-service facility is currently accepting new patients and accepts all insurances, including Medicaid. As a patient of the Health Center, people benefit from preventive measures, follow up care and continuity of care. The Practitioners may serve as the regular health care provider for children and adults during health and illness. They are able to follow each patient through the hospital system should they need care beyond what is offered in the Health Center, i.e. hospitalization, physical therapy, home care, etc.

"St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital has a proud tradition of providing quality health care services," said Bill Moyer, President, St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital. “The hospital continues to look at the needs of the surrounding communities and we're taking the time and talent to address those needs.”

St. Luke's Health Center – McAdoo is funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Community Primary Care Challenge Grant Program.
