A Wide Variety of Dialysis and Related Services

St. Luke’s Dialysis Centers provide a wide variety of dialysis and related services to meet the needs of our patients. Some of the services include:

Hemodialysis - patients utilize a dialysis machine that circulates and filters blood to remove waste products and excess fluid.

Peritoneal dialysis - a dialysate solution is introduced into the abdomen to remove waste products and excess fluids. There are two types of peritoneal dialysis offered at the center: continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and continuous cyclic peritoneal dialysis (CCPD). CAPD is self-administered during the day and requires no machine. CCPD dialyzes the patient during the evening while the patient sleeps.

Pre-renal Program – This program is for patients not yet on dialysis. Patients meet with a dietician, social worker, nurse and other staff who help prepare them for dialysis.

Epogen Program – Epogen is a medication used to help normalize the blood count. When prescribed, the centers will help the patient not yet on dialysis obtain the necessary insurance coverage.

Patient Support Group – The centers offer a patient support group for those who wish to attend. Those using dialysis services at the centers meet on a regular basis to discuss issues pertaining to treatment, socialize, lend support to each other, and hear periodic presentations on related topics such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiology.

Create a Treatment Schedule That Will Best Fit Your Lifestyle

Unlike visits to your family physician or specialist, dialysis services require a regular, planned schedule of treatments each week. Our facilities offer services on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday or Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule. Our experienced staff will work with you to help create a treatment schedule that will best fit your lifestyle.

If needed, our staff will arrange transportation to the center for your treatments.

If you are planning a vacation or business trip, either within the U.S. or abroad, our staff can assist you in finding and scheduling dialysis services while you are away. Please let the center know about your plans far in advance.

A Physician is Available to Assist You in an Emergency 24-hours Per Day

If you have an emergency or health concern that arises during the day, please contact either of the centers immediately. Please provide your name and a description of the problem. A physician is available to assist you in an emergency 24-hours per day. If an emergency arises at night or during the weekend, please contact your physician directly through the answering service.

NOTE: If you believe any delay in medical attention could result in a life-threatening situation, please go immediately to the nearest emergency room for treatment and notify the center as soon as you are able.
