Osteoporosis Research Study

St. Luke's is participating with Wyeth to conduct an osteoporosis clinical research study. The objective is to test whether an investigational drug, given by injection, safely increases the bone mass of the hip when given to the usual care for osteoporosis.

You may be able to participate if you:

  • Are 65 to 85 years old and post-menopausal
  • Have either never received osteoporosis treatment or have taken a bisphosphonate (such as Actonel®, Fosamax® or Boniva®) for the past one to five years

Study staff will review additional study criteria with you at the clinic to detremine if you are eligible. Study participation lasts three years and volunteers can expect 10 visits to the study doctor for medical evaluations, which include regular bone mineral density tests.

For more information about this study, call St. Luke's Orthopaedic Specialists or visit thehipstudy.com.
