St. Luke’s Thoracic Surgeon and Cancer Expert Dr. William Burfeind to Serve as Guest Faculty for Masters Course presented by Duke Surgery
William Burfeind, Jr.
Bethlehem, PA (8-27-2012) - William R. Burfeind, Jr., MD, FACS, Chief of Thoracic Surgery for St. Luke’s University Health Network, will serve as guest faculty for the course Masters of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, a post-graduate surgical educational opportunity presented by Duke Surgery and co-sponsored by the American Association of Thoracic Surgery. The program will be held September 20 through 22 in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Burfeind will present on several topics, including VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) for Mediastinal Masses; Thoracoscopic Segmentectomy; and Endobronchial Ultrasound. He also will serve as moderator for the session on Thoracoscopic Resections: Advanced Disease.
Dr. Burfeind is a member of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Associates of St. Luke’s. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery and his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Burfeind is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Burfeind presents nationally and has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
