Jan Heller Named EVP of Finance
St. Luke's Names Jan Heller EVP of Finance
She Joins St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network from Wells Fargo
Bethlehem, PA (8/8/2011) - Jan Heller has been appointed to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Finance for St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network. Jan is currently Executive Vice President of the Wells Fargo Suburban Philadelphia and Northeast Regional Commercial Banking Office. She has 33 years of financial services experience and is highly respected by the area's financial community.
Jan was elected to the Board of Trustees of St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network in 1993 and served on the Finance Committee from 1994 to 2002 and as Committee Chair from 2007 to the present.
Focus on Strategic Financial Issues
“The status quo is never an option at St. Luke's. We are constantly reinventing ourselves in an increasingly complex health care environment. Our nation's anemic economy and the growing likelihood of a 'double dip' recession creates additional pressure on all health care organizations to manage expenses and grow revenues,” says Richard A. Anderson, President & CEO. “Jan brings unique qualifications and a wide range of experience to St. Luke's. She and Tom Lichtenwalner, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President, will work together to continue to build on the Department's many strengths and to focus upon strategic financial issues to enhance our revenues and operating margin. This is especially important during the tremendous growth and increased complexity our Network will undergo as we open our new hospital in Bethlehem Township in November and anticipate the addition of Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, New Jersey later this year.”
Embracing and Managing Change
During her banking career, Jan held several senior level positions and participated in six mergers. “Jan is qualified in not only leading and managing teams successfully through change, but in teaching others how to embrace it,” Mr. Anderson says. “These are important attributes as we add two more hospitals to our Network.”
“I have a passion for health care and a deep respect and understanding of St. Luke's positive culture. I am looking forward to working closely with Tom and the rest of the Finance team. As Chair of the Finance Committee, these are people I have come to know and respect,” Jan says. “I have announced my retirement from Wells Fargo effective September 1st and I am excited to transition from Trustee to employee of St. Luke's as of September 12th.”
