Digital mammography now offered

February — The Cynthia D. Starr, M.D. Breast Care Center at Warren Hospital now has expanded health and wellness services for women with the addition of a new Selenia™ digital mammography system from Hologic®.

Digital mammography will allow Warren Hospital's patients to receive the highest quality of care for the early detection of breast cancer.

Digital mammography allows the radiologist to view an image more closely by zeroing in on a suspicious or concerning area, enabling the physician to make immediate decisions about the necessity for additional images. Digital mammography takes less than half the time of the traditional film-based exam, and the radiologist may review the images while the patient is still in the examination room.

In conjunction with the digital mammography unit, the Breast Care Center also offers Computer-Aided Detection. CAD provides a "second read" of the mammogram by a computer, which assists the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis.
